WHAT IS PLAY BASED LEARNING AT LPS AND WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT FOR OUR PREP/1 STUDENTS
Children are naturally motivated to play and involvement in play stimulates a child’s interest in exploring and discovery. Play supports positive attitudes to learning. These include imagination, curiosity, enthusiasm, persistence, social skill development, cooperation, sharing, negotiating and resolving conflicts in a positive way. These important characteristics are all reflected in our LPS school values and wellbeing philosophy.
School-wide positive behaviour support (SWPBS) is a framework that brings together school communities to develop positive, safe, supportive learning cultures
SWPBS assists schools to improve social, emotional, behavioural and academic outcomes for children and young people
At L.P.S we use a variety of programs to support the wellbeing of our students, staff and school community. As a School Wide Positive Behaviours School we have established clear expectations to create a calm and respectful environment. The explicitly taught programs, You Can Do It and Respectful Relationships, are complimented by The Berry Street Education Model and other initiatives such as Safeminds and Be You. Our approach to wellbeing supports the social and emotional growth and mental health of our students, equipping them with the tools to make positive decisions about their learning and behaviour.
Private providers
Di Trickey (Music Foundations - keyboard) and Aaron Moar (Infinite Sound - guitar)
